High Council

Occult Interests

Occult interests is an important part of the education provided online by the Vampire Nation High Council. These groups specialize and focus on Magick, the self and the paranormal. These important topics dominate many of the everyday discussions on the Vampires Nest e-mail list. Click on the group name below to join.

SORCIE'RES

The Council’s diverse roles are to collect, research, and review the different magickal practices available to the Vampire community. In doing so, all members will endeavor to respect, and honor all the ideas presented, while attempting to understand the background and possibilities represented by all the philosophies and practices of its members. As participants in this group we will strive to help all in need of our assistance in magickal matters, while providing the Vampire Nation with the magickal tools needed to succeed. Above all, we promise to conduct ourselves with honor, as we accept the trust placed upon us by the community, and our peers. As such, only members of this Council and the Elders of the High Council will be allowed into the group.

PARANORMAL

This Sector Deals With Paranormal Activity. "All houses wherein men have lived and died Are haunted houses. Through the open doors The harmless phantoms on their errands glide, With feet that make no sound upon the floors." -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow 1807-1882 'Haunted Houses' But evil things, in robes of sorrow, Assailed the monarch's high estate. (Ah, let us mourn!–for never morrow Shall dawn upon him desolate!) And round about his home the glory That blushed and bloomed, Is but a dim-remembered story Of the old time entombed. And travellers, now, within that valley, Through the red-litten windows see Vast forms, that move fantastically To a discordant melody, While, like a ghastly rapid river, Through the pale door A hideous throng rush out forever And laugh–but smile no more. Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore." And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door; And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming, And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor; And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor Shall be lifted–nevermore!

DRUIDS

"An order of Priests and Teachers of an ancient Celtic Religion."

In Celtic polytheism the word Druids are a priestly class in ancient Celtic societies, which existed through much of Western Europe north of the Alps and in the British Isles.Druidic practices were part of the culture of all the tribal peoples called "Keltoi" and"Galatai" by Greeks and "Celtae" and "Galli" by Romans, which evolved into modern English"Celtic" and "Gaulish".The Druids' influence was as much social as religious. They not only performed roles similar to modern priests, but were often the philosophers, scientists, lore-masters, teachers, judges and counsellors to the kings. The Druids linked the Celtic peoples with their numerous gods, the lunar calendar and the sacred natural order. They were suppressed in Gaul and Britain after the Roman conquests, but retained their influence in Ireland until the coming of Christianity. The Druids' roles were Individual.Nevertheless, much still survives in practices, rituals, and myths, Orally-transmitted material may have exaggerated deep origins in antiquity, however, and is constantly subject to influence from surrounding culture.
The Druids were and are priests of nature ,Druids do their best work outdoors, and the array of skills they can use benefit them in their lives. Druids understand animals and wild creatures more so than others, making them more able to be friend animals such as Wolves and Bears, while makeing it seem like they have control over them when they really do not. Druids respect nature and understand that it must remane wild, so the trees and animals help them when ever possible. Finally, Druids were and are still great healers, there understanding of herbs gives them the fine ability to mix regeants together to brew potions that heal wounds and cure illness.
